Mike makes his services available to many safety-conscious companies for complying with the latest requirements of OPS and PUC jurisdiction. They can turn to him for training in OPS Operator Qualification, and Cathodic Protection Testing, as well as guidance on Trapped Gas Mitigation and coming into compliance with code issues, PHMSA Office of Pipeline Safety requirements (OPS Compliance Audit), Fire Safety Analysis and annual system testing. He also conducts Public Awareness LP Gas Safety Seminars.

To many in the industry he is best known for his focus on safety. His Construction Heat Addendum is today preventing accidents at construction sites. Previously crews would move tanks used to provide temporary heat for construction without authorization and without following proper techniques, thereby endangering lives. Mike wrote the addendum, requiring customers to sign off as part of their contract that they would not allow this. It was adopted and became part of AmeriGas’ policy.

For a resort Mike assisted in designing and directed building of a system that is approximately 5000’ of main gas line with service lines to supply approximately 60 buildings at build out, with a 30,000 gallon Underground tank, special flood-plain ballast, cathodic protection, redundant direct-fired water bath vaporizers, and Monitor Regulator train.

The supply part of the system is designed so if the entire plant became inoperable, there are sufficient fittings to hook up additional equipment to supply the system during repairs.
